Product Introduction

IS215UCVEH2AF is a VME board developed by GE. It is part of the Mark VI control system. This single-slot VME (Versa Module Eurocard) board plays a vital role in the operation of the control system. The system uses an Intel Celeron microprocessor running at 300 MHz and is equipped with 32 MB of DRAM memory. It provides a flexible choice between 16 MB or 128 MB compact flash modules. In addition, the system includes a 128 KB L2 cache to increase data access speed. To support the controller functions, an 8K battery-backed SRAM is allocated to be used as NVRAM in the system architecture.

Main Ethernet Interface (Ethernet 1)
The main Ethernet interface (Ethernet 1) on this system has the following specifications:
Connection Type: It uses twisted pair 10BaseT/100BaseTX technology with RJ-45 connectors to achieve a variety of connection options.
Communication Protocol: TCP/IP protocol: Mainly used for communication between the controller and the toolbox to ensure seamless data exchange within the system.
EGD Protocol: Designed for communication with CIMPLICITY HMI (Human Machine Interface) and 90-70 Series PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), facilitating efficient and reliable data transfer.
Ethernet Modbus Protocol: Supports communication between the controller and third-party DCS (Distributed Control Systems), providing compatibility and integration capabilities across different systems.
COM Ports
The system contains two micro 9-pin D-type connectors dedicated to COM ports:

COM1: Function: Reserved exclusively for diagnostic purposes, maintains a baud rate of 9600, and data configuration is set to 8 data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit.
COM2: Purpose: Dedicated to serial Modbus communication, supporting variable baud rates of 9600 or 19200. This port facilitates efficient and reliable communication for Modbus-related data transactions.
Motherboard Configuration and Connections
Interface Ports: The controller is equipped with two serial RS-232C ports and an Ethernet port. In addition, it includes connectors for connecting peripheral devices such as keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
Onboard Components: The mainboard is equipped with a high-speed processor, Flash memory and DRAM to efficiently handle processing tasks and store important system data.
Data Acquisition: External data is directly transmitted to the IS215UCVEH2AAE via the VCMI communication board. The type of data transmission may vary, using process I/O (simplex) or voting I/O (TMR), depending on the system configuration.
Variants: The UCV VME control card is available in several versions. The UCVE board variants are specialized in providing one to three PROFIBUS-DP masters, focusing on communication applications based on the first and second layers of the ISO/OSI model.

The IS215UCVEH2A model is a dual-sided controller designed by General Electric Industrial Systems for the LS2100 series. The board is equipped with a front panel that includes three LED indicators and a reset button. Note that the reset button is recessed to prevent accidental pressing. When installed in a VMEbus rack, it goes into the second slot. Several capacitors, resistors, and chokes are installed on the board.
