GE Hydran M2 Mark III Enhanced Transformer DGA Monitoring The Hydran M2 is a compact, permanently installed, online transformer monitoring device that alerts personnel to fault conditions. It continuously monitors a combination of fault gases (ppm) or hydrogen only (depending on the sensor purchased). It also tracks moisture in the oil (readings are in %RH and ppm).

Real-time fault gas and moisture in oil measurement system: Ensures that potential problems are detected before the transformer fails.

Vacuum-free gas extraction membrane: Improves measurement accuracy and reliability.

Microprocessor-based intelligent electronics: Provides full system self-test and self-diagnostic capabilities.

Health conditions are critical to building a reliable network. When a transformer insulation system is overstressed, gases are generated that are dissolved in the oil. It provides critical monitoring information and minimizes the risk of unplanned downtime. • Gas sensor choice: “Hydrogen only” or “Combined gas” with 100% response to hydrogen (general fault gas) and also sensitive to carbon monoxide (paper) acetylene (arc) and ethylene (oil) By connecting other sensors such as top and bottom tank oil temperature, transformer load or ambient temperature, additional information can be captured and used to correlate with the DGA and moisture values ​​for a deeper analysis of the transformer’s condition. • Moisture sensors measure water in the oil, which is a result of insulation paper degradation (producing CO + water) or gasket leaks.
