GE HYDRANM2-X Hydran M2-X measuring and control device
GE HYDRANM2-X is a monitoring and control device designed for transformers. It is mainly used to monitor and evaluate the operating status of transformers to ensure their safe, reliable and efficient operation. The device uses advanced sensors and data analysis technology to monitor multiple parameters of transformers in real time, such as temperature, pressure, vibration, etc., and compares these parameters with preset thresholds to detect abnormal conditions of transformers in time and remind users through alarms or notifications.
Product Introduction
Hydran M2-X
Enhanced Monitoring, Extended Sensor Life
The next generation in the field-proven Hydran DGA family of monitoring solutions, the Hydran M2-X continuously monitors gas and moisture levels, alerts users to potential faults, and minimizes the risk of unplanned downtime. The M2-X builds on GE’s strong domain expertise to deliver optimized, low-maintenance monitoring devices with extended sensor life.
The Hydran M2-X is also available in a UL-certified HazLoc version (Part Number: M2-X-HZ) for installation on transformers in Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations
The Hydran sensor is available as a traditional Hydran composite gas (H2, CO, C2H2, C2H4) sensor or as a discrete hydrogen (H2) sensor. Additionally, it tracks moisture in oil (readings in %RH and ppm) and is compatible with a wide range of transformer oil types (standard mineral insulating oils and newer natural and synthetic ester-based fluids).
Key Benefits
Small size, no moving parts, low maintenance
Supports asset performance management (APM) software analytics for fleet-level deployment
Condition monitoring of transformers using mineral insulating oil or ester-based fluids (natural and synthetic)
In addition to DGA monitoring, connected sensors allow the Hydran M2-X to monitor other parameters such as top oil temperature, load current, and through the use of IEEE-based mathematical models, further insight into changes in transformer condition can be obtained
Provides critical data for APM strategies, facilitating planning of field interventions and maintenance activities
The M2-X-HZ version is certified for use in hazardous locations where ignitable concentrations of flammable gases, vapors, or liquids are unlikely to exist under normal operating conditions, but a risk still exists.
Features
Easily field-upgradeable to accept analog signals and monitor other key transformer parameters
Calculates winding hot spots and other IEEE Transformer models for enhanced diagnostics of transformer condition (depending on installed sensors)
Easy to install on a single existing transformer valve, often without power outage
Integrated display and keypad for simplified local user interaction and data visualization
Built-in moisture sensor measures moisture in the oil, critical for identifying paper degradation and gasket leaks
Compatible with GE’s acclaimed Perception™ software for downloading, trending and analyzing transformer health data
Applications
Medium to large transformers
Utility and industrial transformers
Transmission transformers
GE Hydran M2 Mark III Enhanced Transformer DGA Monitoring The Hydran M2 is a compact, permanently installed, online transformer monitoring device that alerts personnel to the occurrence of fault conditions. It continuously monitors a combination of fault gases (ppm) or just hydrogen (depending on the sensors purchased). In addition, it tracks moisture in the oil (readings are in %RH and ppm).
