Glentek's Omega series digital PWM brushless servo amplifiers provide high-performance DSP control for rotary and linear brushless servo motors. With the extensive application of surface mounting technology, special heat dissipation technology and new electronic technology, the Omega series is one of the most powerful products in the world for a given drive body size. The Omega series includes the following feedback and communication interface modes.
Glentek has also developed a series of linear amplifiers, including a 3-phase or 2-phase linear 16-bit resolution, connected to the output of the brushless motor or coil. These amplifiers do not actually have PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) on the output and are capable of driving zero inductance loads, providing a signal to noise ratio for very precise positioning applications. Encoder Feedback Mode
In this operating mode, the servo amplifier operates in either current (torque) mode or speed (rpm) mode, accepts a +/-10V analog input as a reference command and commutates the motor sinusoidally for very smooth operation at all speeds. The amplifier uses an incremental encoder to control speed and commutate the motor. The absolute commutation angle is usually determined by Hall sensors or encoder commutation rails, but can also be determined by Glentek's Smart-Comminitialization method. Resolver Feedback Mode In this operating mode, the servo amplifier operates in either current (torque) mode or speed (rpm) mode, accepts a +/-10V analog input as a reference command and commutates the motor sinusoidally for very smooth operation at all speeds. The feedback utilized by the amplifier comes from a resolver mounted on the motor.
The Omega Series of resolver feedback amplifiers utilize an advanced, high bandwidth resolver-to-digital converter developed by Glentek. This converter provides digital position (A & B incremental encoders), velocity and motor communication data. This position information is also used to simulate incremental quadrature encoder output signals (A, B and Z) for the controller to close the position loop.
High Speed Series Communications Interfaces
Glentek's interface capabilities are extensive and we currently offer a SynqNet® port in our portfolio. This interface is based on the IEEE802.3 standard over the Ethernet physical layer of 100Base-TX. Glentek is probably one of the largest volume suppliers of SynqNet® amplifiers and our 4096X interpolator is known for its high responsiveness and accurate position performance.
High Speed Digital Axes
Glentek has developed many custom spindle drives over the years. Axle applications include machine tool, precision grinder, semiconductor cutting, screw driving, optical air bearings, circuit board drilling, AC vector control and many more.
Standalone
This assembly includes an amplifier module, DC power supply, regeneration circuit with brake resistor, closing current limit protection when power is on, fuse, and one or more cooling fans. This type is particularly suitable for single-axis or multi-axis applications.
Modular
This module includes an amplifier module without DC power supply. This type is mainly used in cost-sensitive applications such as customers provide their own DC power supply, forced air cooling and regeneration resistor.
Multi-axis
This assembly includes an open frame base with DC power supply, regeneration circuit with brake resistor, closing current limit when power is on, protection, fuse and cooling fan. There are 2-axis to 6-axis assemblies. This type of assembly is used in multi-axis applications.
