Product Introduction

About the DS200RTBAG2AFB
The DS200RTBAG2AFB is a relay terminal board (RTBA) designed for the General Electric Mark V Series boards. This board can be used with a variety of GE brand drives and exciters. By mounting this board into a drive cabinet, an additional ten relays are available to the user. Both the LAN I/O terminals and remote users can drive the relays on this board. This DS200RTBAG2AFB relay terminal board or relay terminal board assembly is not an original product manufactured for the General Electric Mark V Series turbine control system; that would be the original DS200RTBAG2 relay terminal board, missing three significant product revisions of this PCB.

Hardware Tips and Specifications

As part of the Mark V Series product, this DS200RTBAG2AFB relay terminal board assembly requires the inclusion of a specific series of hardware components and hardware component specifications. Positions K20 through K29 are the board locations for all of the onboard relays. The DS200RTBAG2AFB contains two types of relays, the DPDT and 4PDT styles of the Mark V series relays. The DPDT type includes seven relays on the card, including K20 through K26. These types have two Form C contacts, each rated at 10A. K27 through K29 are relays on this printed circuit board that are classified as the second relay type, the 4PDT. Instead of two contacts, the 4PDT relays contain four Form C contacts, each rated at 1A. All ten points are protected by 130 VAC Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs). Each relay contains an internal 110 VDC coil to ensure they function properly. All ten points can be easily removed and replaced by the user if any relay stops functioning or becomes damaged.

The DS200RTBAG2AFB model uses two connectors; one is a 16-pin connector and the other is a 2-pin connector. The 16-pin connector is labeled RPL and the 2-pin connector is labeled OPTPL. The OPTPL connector has two additional diagnostic nomenclatures; X2 and CFX1. The X2 nomenclature sends a signal back to the NTB/3TB board of the CFX1 nomenclature 120 VAC load. This nomenclature is the same as the RPL X2 nomenclature. For all the nomenclatures available for these two connectors, refer to Table 3 and Table 4 in the GEI-10016B manual, which is included in the Manuals tab above.

Frequently Asked Questions About the DS200RTBAG2AFB
Is every pin in the sixteen-pin (RPL) connector connected when used on the DS200RTBAG2AFB model?

No. The pins on the RPL connector that are always connected are pins 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15. Each pin has a separate nomenclature and description. For example, pin 13 is referred to as the RX6 nomenclature. The RX6 nomenclature is described as the pilot input to the LTB of relay K25 on the RTBA model. For other nomenclature and descriptions, refer to Table 3 in the GEI-100167B manual on page 5.
How many terminals are available on the DS200RTBAG2AFB model?

The DS200RTBAG2AFB model has 52 terminal points. Each terminal point has its own nomenclature and description. Terminal point 27 is an example of a nomenclature and description. The nomenclature for terminal 27 is K232CM and the description is K23 Form C Contact 2. For more information on all nomenclature, terminal points and descriptions, refer to the GEI-100167 manual.

The General Electric (GE) DS200RTBAG2AFB relay terminal board is an integral component of the Mark V DS200 series, designed to enhance the unmatched reliability and efficiency of turbine control systems.

The board is designed to be compact yet durable to meet the rigorous demands of industrial environments. Its rugged design integrates seamlessly into existing systems, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.

Key features include an operating voltage of 220V and a frequency of 50kHz, providing a versatile solution for a wide range of applications. The certified product designation ensures compliance with strict industry standards, guaranteeing safety and reliability.

Made of premium materials, the DS200RTBAG2AFB board is carefully manufactured to provide optimal performance under a variety of conditions. It is an essential upgrade or replacement part for systems that require enhanced control and precision.

Ease of installation and maintenance are the most important factors in the design of this board, making it easy for both technicians and engineers to use it. With its compatibility with the DS200 RTBA series, users can expect consistent performance and seamless integration in existing infrastructure.

The DS200RTBAG2AFB is a contact input bank isolation terminal board developed by GE. 24 dry contact inputs are connected to two fence-type terminal blocks on the contact input with bank isolation (TBCI) terminal board. For contact actuation, the TBCI is coupled to a DC power source. Noise reduction circuitry in the contact inputs protects against surges and high frequency noise.

The TBCI supports both simplex and TMR applications and works with VTCC/VCRC. The TBCI connects to the VME rack where the VCCC or VCRC processor board is placed via a cable with a molded plug. Both the TBCIH B and TBCIH C variants of the board are suitable for use with the Mark VI and are functionally identical. The nominal voltage is 24 V dc.

DS200RTBAG2AFB Installation

Wiring

Wire the 24 dry contact inputs directly to the two I/O wiring terminals on the terminal block. Two screws hold the blocks in place and they can be removed from the board for maintenance. Each block has 24 terminals and accommodates wires up to #12 AWG. To the left of each terminal block is a shielded terminal block that connects to chassis ground.

Power Connections

Connect the TBCI to the contact excitation voltage source using plugs JE1 and JE2.

Wiring Connections

Connect the TBCI to the I/O processor in a simplex system using connector JR1. Connect the TBCI to the I/O processor in a TMR system using connectors JR1, JS1, and JT1. Plug in cables or I/O packs depending on the type of Mark VI, Mark VIe, or Mark VIeS system and the level of redundancy.

DS200RTBAG2AFB Operation

Filters reduce high frequency noise and control surges at each input near the signal input point. The dry contact inputs on the H1 are powered by a floating 125 V DC (100-145 V DC) power supply from the turbine control. The 125 V DC bus is current limited in the power distribution module before powering each contact input. The H2 and H3 variants use lower voltages as shown in the specification table.

Diagnostics

Perform the following diagnostic tests on the components on the terminal block:

Measures the excitation voltage. If the excitation is less than 40% of the nominal voltage, the I/O assembly/board sets and latches a diagnostic warning.

As a test, all terminal block inputs are set to the open contact (fail-safe) state. Any input that fails the diagnostic test is forced into fail-safe mode, causing a fault to be generated.

If the input from the board does not match the TMR voted value from all three boards, a fault is issued.

Each terminal block connector has its own ID device that the I/O pack/board queries.
