GE IS220PPROS1B | PPROS1B | Emergency Turbine Protection I/O Pack. The IS220PPROS1B is a General Electric manufactured and designed Emergency Turbine Protection I/O Pack, part of the Mark VIe Series used in GE Distributed Control Systems. The Emergency Turbine Protection I/O Pack (PPRO) and associated terminal boards provide a backup overspeed protection system with a backup check for generator synchronization to the common bus. They also act as an independent watchdog for the master control. Three Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) PPRO I/O Packs mounted on separate Simplex Protection (SPRO) terminal boards make up a typical protection system. Each SPRO is connected to a designated emergency trip board via a cable with DC-37 pin connections at both ends:
TREG: Gas Turbine Emergency Trip Terminal Board.
TREL: Large Steam Turbine Emergency Trip Terminal Board.
TRES: Small/Medium Steam Turbine Emergency Trip Terminal Board.
TREA: Steam Turbine Emergency Trip Terminal Board.

Mark VIe SPRO or TREA Terminal Blocks accept direct mounting of PPRO. When placed on the SPRO board, a cable with DC-37 pin connections on both ends is required between the SPRO board and the selected trip terminal block. Here are the installation steps:
Securely mount the SPRO or TREA terminal block. If using a SPRO, install the selected trip terminal block.
If TREA is not used, connect a cable with DC-37 pin connections on both ends between the SPRO and the selected trip terminal strip.
Connect three PPRO modules directly to the TREA or connect one PPRO module to each SPRO.
The threaded posts of the PPRO, located on either side of the Ethernet port, should slide into the openings in the terminal strip mounting bracket.
To ensure that the PPRO's DC-62 pin connector fits snugly against the terminal strip, adjust the position of the bracket. Secure the mounting bracket securely.
Only one adjustment is required over the life of the product. Lock the PPRO in place by tightening the nuts on the threaded posts.
Depending on the machine's setup, connect one or two Ethernet wires. The PPRO module will select the appropriate operation on either port and is not sensitive to the Ethernet connection.
Connect the power connector located on the side of the module to provide power. The I/O module has a built-in soft start feature that regulates current levels when in use.
Emergency Protection:
The IS220PPROS1B, as an emergency turbine protection I/O package, provides a backup overspeed protection system with backup check function for synchronizing the generator with the main bus.
It can also serve as an independent monitor of the master control, listening to the safety input without interference, thus reducing the cost of duplicate field instruments.
Triple Module Redundancy (TMR):
The module supports triple module redundant configuration, which improves the reliability and fault tolerance of the system.
Three TMR PPRO I/O battery packs are installed on separate single protection (SPRO) terminal boards to form a typical protection system.
Multiple connection options:
The IS220PPROS1B is compatible with 6 discrete output terminal boards, including SRLY and TRLY connections.
It also provides 1 DC connector and 2 RJ45 connectors for easy connection with other devices and systems.
LED indicators:
The front panel is equipped with multiple LED indicators to display status information such as power, attention, TxRx, link, etc., which is convenient for users to diagnose faults and monitor status.
