The IS420ESWBH2A is an unmanaged Ethernet switch commonly used in General Electric's Mark VIe Speedtronic system. This is a control and management system for industrial hydro, gas, and steam turbine systems ranging from a single turbine to an entire plant.

The unit has 16 ports that support 10/100 BASE TX. Two of the ports also support 100BASE FX connections (LC type).
In some cases, ESWB switches may experience a power loss or voltage sag, causing them to reboot incorrectly or fail to reestablish a communication link with the system. If this occurs, be aware that your switch may not reboot correctly even after the voltage returns to normal. Refer to GEH-6721 Vol II for information on how to discover and correct this error.
The IS420ESWBH2A is typically installed in new applications that use DIN rails. It can be mounted either parallel to the rail or perpendicular to the rail. However, the unit can also be panel mounted and mounting holes are provided for this application.
The IS420ESWBH2A is designed as a single unit to better utilize space. The unit is marked with the GE logo on the frame. All ports are numbered.

Note that multiple streams will generally only allow for buffering of one incoming stream and the remaining streams must be saved for later transmission.
Since high reliability is required when using the IS420ESWBH2A switch, several performance criteria should be considered during operation,
switch architecture, inrush current, and switch latency. The inrush current of the switch will provide a soft start that helps limit the inrush current to less than two hundred percent of the normal operating current.

The IS420ESWBH2A has the ability to use high speed and functions. To achieve these functions, a 100 Mbps FX uplink port and 10/100 base copper ports with auto-negotiation are required.
The IS420ESWBH2A Mark VIe provides PROFIBUS DP-V0 and DP-V1, Class 1 master devices, mapping I/O slave devices to the controller. The Bus Performance Gateway is an I/O module that communicates with the controller through a 100 MB Ethernet I/O network and communicates with slave devices through RS-485 interfaces. It supports 9.6 KB to 12 MB of communication for up to 125 nodes with 244 bytes of I/O per slave node. Data can be communicated between the controller and PROFIBUS I/O modules at speeds as fast as 10 milliseconds. Data is then communicated asynchronously to the slave devices at the fastest possible rate, determined by the PROFIBUS network baud rate, number of slaves, number of I/O, and slave response time. At a 10ms execution rate (frame rate), 500 inputs and 500 outputs (semi-Boolean and semi-analog) can be processed. For input event detection, Booleanputs can be configured as sequence of events (SOE) logging with 10ms time stamps. The IS420ESWBH2A fieldbus module, such as the Foundation Fieldbus H1 to HSE Linking Device, communicates on the Mark VIe IONet and is fully compatible with the ControlST software suite, which is a 61b
class registered host. The ToolboxST software is used to configure and monitor the fieldbus modules and all devices at the I/O and monitoring levels. For reliability, two linking devices can be connected with an RS-232C
null modem cable to form a logical linking device (redundant set) in a primary/secondary configuration. Features? 4 H1 ports with galvanic isolation (transformer)? 16 field devices per segment? Data link layer compliant with IECTM 61158? Access device data, function blocks and configuration from HSE? Republish data from H1 to HSE or between H1 links?
