Based on the eddy current effect, high-frequency oscillating current in the preamplifier flows into the probe coil through the cable, generating an alternating magnetic field. When the measured metal body approaches, induced current, i.e. eddy current, is generated on the metal surface. This eddy current flow field generates an alternating magnetic field in the opposite direction to the probe coil, which in turn changes the amplitude and phase of the high-frequency current in the probe coil. The preamplifier converts this change into a direct current voltage output proportional to the distance, thereby achieving displacement measurement.
