There are various types of faults in frequency converters, and maintenance and troubleshooting need to be carried out according to specific situations. The correct installation, use, and maintenance methods, as well as standardized operating procedures, can effectively prevent the occurrence of frequency converter failures. The common faults of frequency converters mainly include the following:

  1. Overcurrent fault

Cause: Due to excessive load current or damage to internal components of the inverter, the inverter protection is triggered.

Solution: Check if the load current is too high, if there are any short circuits or other issues, increase the cable cross-sectional area or install voltage reducing devices, or replace internal components such as capacitors.

  1. Overheating fault

Cause: Excessive heating of internal components or heat sinks in the frequency converter can trigger protection and even damage internal components.

Solution: Strengthen ventilation and heat dissipation, clean the radiator, ensure smooth heat transfer channels, or adjust output power and other measures. At the same time, check whether the internal components of the frequency converter are working properly.

  1. Undervoltage fault

Causes: Unstable input voltage, excessively long power supply lines, or low grid voltage can trigger the protection of the frequency converter.

Solution: Check if the input voltage is normal, check if the power supply line is tight, or use devices such as voltage regulators to ensure stable grid voltage.

  1. Overload fault

Causes: Motor overload, transmission failure, or sudden load changes can trigger the protection of the frequency converter.

Solution: Reduce the load, increase the output power of the frequency converter, change the transmission device, reduce sliding or rolling friction and friction, and other methods.

  1. Output short circuit fault

Cause: The protection of the frequency converter is triggered due to short circuits in the output terminal or control circuit.

Solution: Solve problems such as output terminal short circuits or control circuit short circuits, such as replacing and repairing damaged components, cleaning and maintaining contactors, repairing burnt fuses, etc.

  1. Fault code display

Cause: When the frequency converter malfunctions, the corresponding fault code will be displayed on the screen, and the specific cause of the fault needs to be diagnosed based on the fault code.

Solution: Refer to the fault code manual, check whether the corresponding circuit or component has a fault, and take corresponding measures for maintenance, such as replacing damaged components.

  1. Large control error

Cause: Under some special conditions, such as cold, humid, corrosive environments, the control error of the frequency converter will increase.

Solution: Improve precision, increase feedback methods for position or velocity, reduce interface human interference, and other methods to reduce control errors.

For the faults of the frequency converter, it is necessary to analyze the specific situation and adopt corresponding solutions for adjustment, while maintaining the good operation of the frequency converter and carrying out daily maintenance work to ensure its normal operation. If the fault cannot be eliminated, professional technicians should be promptly hired for maintenance.
