1、 Overload fault

Overload refers to the load that ABB frequency converters are subjected to during operation exceeding their carrying capacity. Common overload faults include excessive output current and motor winding overheating. The main reasons for overload faults are as follows:

1.1 Overload operation: Due to excessive load or the need for additional power, ABB frequency converters have to withstand loads exceeding their rated power.

Solution: The rated power of ABB frequency converters should be readjusted according to the load situation, or auxiliary equipment should be added to share the load.

1.2 Motor too small: Choosing a motor with too small power can also cause ABB frequency converters to overload.

Solution: The appropriate motor power should be re selected according to the load situation and matched with the corresponding ABB frequency converter.

1.3 Program control error: In the control program of ABB frequency converter, if the given load parameters are incorrect, it can also cause the frequency converter to overload.

Solution: The control program of ABB frequency converter should be rechecked and modified to ensure that the load parameters are correct.

2、 Overcurrent fault

Overcurrent refers to a fault in which the output current of an ABB inverter exceeds the rated current. Overcurrent faults may cause damage or abnormal operation of ABB frequency converters. The reasons for overcurrent faults are as follows:

2.1 Unstable power supply voltage: Large fluctuations in power supply voltage or unstable power supply voltage can cause excessive output current of ABB frequency converters.

Solution: ABB frequency converters should be stabilized or a stable power supply should be selected for power supply.

2.2 Output Short Circuit: If the output terminal of the ABB inverter is short circuited or the load current suddenly increases, it can also cause overcurrent faults.

Solution: Check if there is a short circuit at the output end of the ABB frequency converter and promptly repair the short circuit fault.

2.3 Sensor Failure: If the current sensor of ABB frequency converter malfunctions and cannot correctly sense the load current, it can also cause overcurrent faults.

Solution: The working status of the current sensor should be checked, and if there is a malfunction, it should be replaced or repaired in a timely manner.

3、 High temperature fault

3.1 Poor heat dissipation: If the ABB frequency converter has poor heat dissipation and cannot effectively dissipate heat, it will lead to excessive temperature.

Solution: The heat dissipation device of ABB frequency converter should be checked to ensure good heat dissipation effect.

3.2 Poor air circulation: If the environment around the ABB inverter is blocked or the air circulation is poor, it can also lead to high temperatures.

Solution: The surrounding environment should be cleaned to ensure smooth air circulation.

3.3 Long working hours: Long working hours can cause the internal temperature of ABB frequency converters to be too high.

Solution: The working time of ABB frequency converters should be set reasonably to ensure appropriate cooling intervals.

In addition to the common faults mentioned above, there may be other faults that may occur in ABB frequency converters:

4.1 Relay Failure: Relay failure or poor contact may cause ABB frequency converters to malfunction.

Solution: The working status of the relay should be checked to ensure its normal operation.

4.2 Control power failure: If the control power supply of ABB frequency converter is abnormal, it can also cause the frequency converter to malfunction.

Solution: The power supply status of the control power supply should be checked, and if there is a fault, it should be repaired or replaced in a timely manner.

4.3 Communication Failure: When there is a communication failure between ABB frequency converter and upper computer or other equipment, normal data transmission and control may not be possible.

Solution: Communication lines and settings should be checked to ensure proper communication connection.

When repairing ABB frequency converter faults, corresponding solutions should be taken according to the specific fault situation. At the same time, in order to ensure the long-term stable operation of ABB frequency converters, regular maintenance and upkeep should be carried out, dust and debris should be cleaned in a timely manner, and cable connections should be checked for looseness to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.
